I've only just started to look into my family tree and I'm finding it a bit frustrating, I've found my grandfather and his wife but I can't seem to link my father and his 10 brothers and sisters to him. At the mo I'm not registered with any Family search (mainly because of the cost). Any tips would be helpful.

lol new nicknames, thanks for your interest.
My father was the youngest child his name was Frederick Charles Litherland known as Charles or charlie) dob 18 Sept 1918 born Bramley Leeds West Yorkshire. His father was Ernest D(avid) Litherland his dob was 1875 died Bramley Leeds 1949 his wife Harriet?was born in 1879 died 1942 both lived in Leeds and lastly at Bramley. Great Grandad was Alfred Litherland b 1852 Wolverhampton m Julia b1847.lived at 62 Concord Street Leeds (1881 Census). I never met any of my fathers family, I've pcked up some names from the census 1881 and 1901 and I'd love to know more about them all, and how far back I could go.
His wife was harriet Hopwood and they had children Florence Elsie norman amy and daisy, his father was Alfred from Wolverhampton who married Julie Hopwood (aye up I had this last night!) alfred's father was John from Birmingham born1810 and his father was samuel from birmingham 1770
Frederick Charles's mother was called Harriet Harrison not Hopwood sorry, she married in 1897 at Hunslet.

3 different people on ancestry have already done your family history and it's all there waiting for you!
My tip would be to enrol on ancestry for the 14 day free trial, extract all the information as it is all there, including each distaff line for 4 generations, and then cancel your trial on day 13 and your family history will be pretty well on it's way to having all gaps filled,
Dotty where have you got Elsie from?
I have ..............Daisy 1916, Frederick C 1918, Edith 1911, and Amy 1913 but can't find Elsie.
One of the trees on ancestry has Elsie born and died 1900 but on the 1911 census the Litherlands say they have had 5 children and all are living...........
You can do as Dotty says ayg but of the 3 trees on ancestry 2 are private so you can't see them, and I don't reckon much to the 1 you can see. I would use what you have been given here and use ancestry free at the library.
Also if you put 'Litherland genealogy' into Google there are numerous sites to trawl through......
Amy only died in 1999 and so it's probable though not 100% that some of the info came from her, the death date for Elsie is given as 23 Oct 1900 and the birth as Sept 1900, that matches the birth and death registrations at Bramley in Q4 1900. With having a definate death date that has to be either from a death certificate, a memorial card, a gravestone, a family bible or something that personal to the family,.

Thanks there isn't an Elsie as far as I know, all I know there were 11 children possibly 2 died early on. It is such a large family I got confused about who I was looking for and got side tracked. I looked on the Family history site which gave me a number 1342084 National archive RG11 and piece folio 4517/110 which meant not a lot to
me. I am wondering now who the 3 relatives are. However I'll try again. Thanks for your help, at least I have something to go on now.

Thanks dotty, I found Alfred O on the 1881 census but I hadn't seen the 1891 with the sisters on it, I looked for Alfred O but he must have died. It was quite interesting to note he was born in Stepney london. My dad hated cockneys for some reason and it seems Walter was born in Hackey too. But not my grandad. I thought the family originated in Wolverhampton Staffs.I don't know where the London residence came from. Probably work.
