Crew Lists for ships
I am trying to help my next door neighbour find some information for her family tree. A relation was aboard a ship that sank as crew, we can find passenger lists but no crew lists. Were there even lists kept of the crew? we are talking 1880's here. If anybody can point me in the right direction I would be grateful, the ship name was the SS Erin and it sank 31st December 1889 after leaving New York going to London.

In the book only one of the lost crew is named in full; carpenter Charles Alfred Fields. The other surnames listed are Buchan, Facey, Wright, Smith, Kilventon, Wilkinson, Twyman (x2, father & son), Euaston and Collins.

Yes Craft sorry I meant passenger lists from other sailings, not that particular one. I don't think my neighbour knew it was a cargo of cattle so that has been very helpful.
ABerrant, that was a very interesting link, thank you. I have had a read through of it all and my neighbour told me that one of her relations had been in a group photographed, certainly one of the names nearly matches the one looking for so could be a variation. I have copied it to show her. I hope this will open up other leads for her.
So many thanks to both of you. Jules
