Plessure- you have to rummage about a bit estimating ages etc sometimes but usually unless it's something like 'John Smith' I just search all and often get the birth, marriage and death for that person- if it's a very common name it can lead to a bit of frustration and detective work but usually coupled with the census records you get where you want to go:-)

I'd look on ancestry.............you'll have an idea of their dates of birth from their ages on the marriage certificate. I'll have a look if you want help.

If you have the marriage certificate there is a reasonable chance your have an age and thus a birth year (give or take) and maybe a maiden name (possibly misspelt) if appropriate. From there on in it's the job of slogging through the records to try to spot possible matches for the birth. Takes a lot less time now you can do it on the Internet. And death certifictes give age so again slog your way through them looking for the information you have already. Be prepared for minor errors on the records from careless clerks should you not find an exact match.

FreeBMD and/or ancestry are great suggestions. Although the latter is not free.
