I've been trying to register for Find My Past for the past two days with no luck. If you register you can gain points for credits to look into your family tree. Anyone succeeded?

I haven't tried because i didn't like the fact they say it's free, which of course it isn't. You get some credits, after that you will be paying, if you choose to continue, and as i know from once joining another site of this sort can be very costly.
maybe you have to put in an actual offer code, i haven't used find my past since they stopped giving credits every time you made a transcription error correction.
I've just been on the mail website and quite a few others have had a problem claiming the offer, i'm a member of the site and so i've told them they can use ancestry in their library for free! lol

I wondered what the catch was, you can get 125 credits if you collect 20 tokens. I looked at all these pay sites and they are expensive. I don't want to get involved with buying credits, but then I won't be submitting my bank details to them. It's frustrating though, I can log into FMP but I can't register with the Daily Mail to get the free credits.

Thanks dotty, looks like more trips to the library.
ayg, i have been trying to cobble together some of the families history, it can be laborious and costly. It is interesting though, so might just have another go one day.

I've still got a few holes in my father's side of the family, it's been absolutely fascinating. I'd a relative who was a priest in 1538 who was hung drawn and quartered by order of Henry VIII. It's my latest relatives my aunts and uncles who I need to find. Next I'll look at my mother's side of the family, which has quite a common name so it may be difficult.
how did you manage to go back that far?
either of you stuck just give me a shout and i'll have a look for you, no probs.

Just thought I'd let you know I finally got on to FMP today, they have extended the deadline to register. Having said that I found b***ger all on their BMD, Census or War Dead, even those I know have records on other sites. So maybe a waste of time.

em10 I look on Rootsweb they have old books in PDF form you can look through. I looked through a few of them for the Clergy, University scholars and Masters of Colleges. One was Headmaster of Repton School in 1672-81
