Policeman That Went Missing In 1952
I am trying to find any info on a Policeman serving in Liverpool in 1952. I am a member of Ancestry, I have his birth Registration and his Marriage details. He had a 5 year old Daughter (who is my neighbour) at the time of his disappearance. He was never found. He was born 1924. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

darn i'd written a long reply and it's vanished! His parents died in 1962 in liverpool and his mum's maiden name was Gorham, possibly with a link the thanet in kent where she married his father, might be worth looking at gorham as an alternative surname.

I'd do a search just on the BMDs given that you know his date of birth and his name. Although if he is still alive (or survived beyond 2006) you won't get a hit. That being the case, you could try 192.com but if he is not on the publicly viewable electoral roll you won't find him there.
You could also try the Phone Directory search on ancestry.
If you post a name, I'll have a look.

when you say he was 'never found' who went looking for him? Was his disapearance treated as suspicious and the subject of a police investigation or did he do a runner? Did anyone else 'disapear' at the same time and maybe have a husband looking for her? Were there any investigations going on that may have implicated him?
Thank you all so much. His name was Leonard William Rush. Born abt 1924. His wife is still alive at 91 but her Daughter, my neighbour, really does not want to question her to much. I presume the Police would have looked for him. If he was pronounced dead after the statutory time where should I look? Would Liverpool Police release any info to her? Many thanks again to you all.
