Daisy is a name just like other flower names; Rose, Marguerite, Violet, Poppy etc

I've a friend who's called Daisy.
He's a big guy so nobody laughs too much.
I've never asked but I guess it's an evolution of Davy (his given name being David) from childhood.

I have done a few hundred family trees over the years and I have come across a few people called Daisy and each one has been traced in the GRO index with that as their official registered christian name. It was a very popular name in the late 1800s.

I wondered that too as I cannot find someone whose name was Daisy. Just following on from Douglas` reply. My son and friends always called an old school friend (female ) Daisy but her name was Donna. When I asked why they called her Daisy, he replied, "because she a right cow " !!! nice eh ?
