Im still researching Cyril Bernard Tindall born 1907 in Bridlington. His family recently told me he was affected by mustard gas during the war, so we are presuming he served in WW2, and also that he was a cook, possibly in the wartime also. I cannot find any military records for him Ancestry or FMP. Is there any other site (hopefully free ) I can check to see if he does have a war record. TIA

Forces war records is a good site, give it a try.
Look up mustard gas in Wiki - it's use after WW1 seems quite limited but covers other conflicts than WW2.
