On the 1911 census there is a Pearman family living in Walsall with several daughters, the eldest is married with a 1 year old son and her married name is Alice Clinton, she was married in 1909 (in fact her marriage must have been one of 3 done at the same time in the same place with 3 grooms called clinton and so i am assuming brothers all got married at the same time). In 1911 though she is married her husband is not about. I think her husband was Sidney Kenneth Clinton but he was married and living with his father in walsall but not a wife. Might explain why no pearman hadley marriage
i think it is sidney as on his 1911 entry he's put the same detail as alice has on her's married 2 years. one child. ( Alice's son is aged one and called sidney too.) Alice lived at 94 New Mills Street and Sidney at 67 emery street,

I am confused .... if Edna's mother's maiden name was Pearman, are you saying she never married a Hadley??? I am not with you about how this other surname fits in .... Am I being a bit thick??!
though in 1918, they had another son, Kenneth John. I've changed my mind now, there seems to have been births from 1918 to 1926 between them, but none between 1910 and 1918. something odd there. Not just WW1 gap either.
if she remarried, then her married name would have been the one in the index, not her maiden name, but on the birth index, the maiden name is used,
i mean her first married name, this may be a red herring but it would explain why you aren;t matching a pearman with a hadley, though i can't find a clinton marrying a hadley either, you might need to list all the likely hadley marriages in walsall, then check the wife's name to see if it is the maiden name or a previous married name
sorry to keep adding replies, after WW1 there were thousands of young widows.

With you now Dot - so Miss Pearman became Mrs Clinton THEN married a Hadley? Great theory - but I still can't fins a marriage. There is a second daughter with Hadley surname and mother's maiden name of Pearman ... in 1926, does this help?
William Hadley married Annie Pearman Walsall 1906 Q3 6b 1247

1911 census at 103 Blue Lane West, Walsall

William Hadley 28
Annie Hadley 25
William F Hadley 5
Nellie Hadley 3
Thomas Hadley 10/12
Henry Hadley 22 ..................Henry is William's brother.
Trouble is I can find an Annie Hadley born 1886 (as in census) dying in 1973 but I can't find an Annie Pearman born in 1886..........
Personally I'd send off for a copy of Edna's birth certificate....

Great craft - thanks ..... and thank you too Dot - really appreciate your help x
I've found an Annie Sophia Pearman born in Walsall in the right quarter in 1886............
Then in that case it also looks like that family they had Bernard in 1912, Kathleen in 1914, Samuel in 1918, edna in 1921 and Betty A in 1925. I know it's possible to have such a span of births as my own great great grandmother did. expect the unexpected i guess. work back from the birth til a marriage crops up.

Thanks again x
