there is very often no actual memorial and often a simple entry in the Book of Memoriam.
Best thing you can do is find the local crematorium which serves the area where grandad died. Sometimes they will search for you. Sometimes, you have to go up there and search for yourself.
I'd start here:- http:// www.lbh f.gov.u k/Direc tory/Co mmunity _and_Li ving/Bi rth_mar riage_a nd_deat h/Buria l_and_c rematio n/10968 _Burial _and_cr emation .asp

It was probably done at Mortlake, my ex's granddad lived in Isleworth and he was cremated there.

you may also find an entry in the Death Notices in the local paper, the Fulham paper is indexed up to 1991.

I then had a quick nosey at this family and if I have the correct one, Edward's father was Arthur (1886 - 1928) and his burial came up at Brompton Cemetery - the link above is for Arthur's record. You buy credits to see the burial register scan / map of grave location.
No matter if I have the wrong family, it's as good example as any other to start exploring the site!
