A few years ago my bank (Bank of Ireland) contacted me to say that an unusual transaction had taken place - it was a payment to ancestry.com and they were suspicious of it. It turned out that my account had been hacked and a lot of money taken. The bank reimbursed the amount, and launched an investigation but I don't think they ever actually caught anyone. I am not saying this is definitely what has happened to you, but any unusual or unexplained removal of money should be reported to your bank for investigation. Sorry, I don't know a phone number to contact the site you mention.
If money has been taken from your account - get down to your bank right away and tell them. they will fill in a form. You will get your money back. This has happened to me about 4 times with sums of £30 - England top up phone. £700 to pay for a few people to have a great weekend. And £400 of goods sent to a derelict address. The bank passes the information to the police but you should get your money back - need to get down there fast.
I contacted FindMyPast and what had happened was I purchased a £1 subscription offer for a month BUT apparently if you take an offer subscription like that it triggers an automatic monthly subscription which I had failed to notice, However extremely nice about it and have cancelled the subscription. Thanks for your replies This time lucky eh?
