sorry
then did he die in 1944 in England or wales? or was he killed overseas during the war?

i can look at all deaths registered in England and Wales in 1944 and i will see of there is such a registration hang on a bit.
I have searched the General Register Office index for death Registrations under the name Robert Raymond and there is no entry from the first quarter of 1943 to the last quarter of 1945 for him, that is up to a year either side of the given year. it would seem his death was not registered therefore in England or wales.

Thankyou for your efforts dot where to now??
well what exactly is known about him? Is there not a grave somehwere? What makes the person believe this man died in 1944? Why did he not die in Scotland? When did his wife die?
Question Author
The wife remarried in 1945 and had a child 7months later, I could not find a death for him on Scotlands people so we assume he died elsewhere The wife is dead now my friend would like to know the date of his death cause she thinks he could be the father of the child, This is only for her knowledge nobody else
It does seem to be a complicated story, I wonder if this is one of those family secrets that was surrounded in half truths and vague information to avoid upset. There is not enough info to go on really if the death was not registered in England & Wales nor Scotland, there may be a chance of finding the marriage of Robert and his wife, that would give you alot of info on Robert as the Scottish marriage certificates are far more packed with info than the English ones. I am still wondering if this was a wartime death actually.
