My great grandfather was born at "Old Alice, Cumberland". Can anyone help me find the whereabouts of this village?

Can you rell us what source you have found this place name in? If it was on a civil registration certificate for birth then it will have the registration district on the top.
If it is on a census return (say 1851) then it will have a registration district on the entry too.
This will help narrow it down to a Parish in Cumbria.
I have looked at the Cumbria FHS website and in the members interests there is a place called Alice near Little Broughton.
There was a pit called Old Alice near Maryport, maybe the village took its name from that
