Has anybody any Satterthwaites in their family trees from Cumberland?
I have come to dead end on that side of my tree.
I have Benjamin married to a Susan born in Scotland, living in cockermouth with daughters Isabella born 1853 and Agnes born 1851 both in cockermouth.
Isabella had 4 children but no fathers name on any of the birth certs and Agnes had at least one child, also with no fathers name.
Would the original Parish Registers have the fathers names?

ooo this is a coincidence as fellow Aber Redbel's family were from Scotland and moved to Cumberland, Workington actually, which is of course close to Cockermouth. They all worked in trades associated with the seaport and harbour.

The original parish Registers of the Church at Cockermouth are probably in Kendal Record Office, they may show the baptisms and possibly give a fathers name, but unlikely, what would be a better source would be the census returns for cockermouth, just to see if they were living in a family unit with a father as head.

PROBABLY the 1881 would pick up the two mothers and some of the children.
