Does anyone know the origin( geographic or linguistic) of the name "BAIRNER" ?

All the ones on ancestry.co seem to originate from Scotland

Thank you craft1948 - shall follow that line.
At first it might appear to be an occupational or patronymic surname, however, I am inclined to think it may well be a form of nickname, possibly hundreds of years ago, someone was known as the Bairn or child of someone else, and the name stuck as a nickname and developed from there. It has it's origins in Scotland or the far North of England.
