IGI Conundrum
Looking on the IGI for a marriage for Robert Locker, it states his spouse as Mrs. Elizabeth Locker. Surely it should give her maiden name. ?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.No I'll explain what this is, if you are looking at this entry in the Index on familt search.org, look at the bottom of the page and you will see a load of information about films and dilm number etc, also there will be a reference to a member's number.
What this means is that the record you have been reading is not taken from any parish Register, it is accepted infomation submitted by a member of the LDS Church. It means that the person who has researched this ancestor has included in thier supmitted tree Mrs Elixabeth Lockerm because they have found a baptism record for children ofr Robert and Elizabeth, but they have not found a marriage for Robert and Elizabeth.
The members of the LDS Church have a duty to research their ancestry, and then they postumously baptise their ancestors into the LDS Congregation.
If you look at the ino at the bottom of the page, there is a membership number and then you can go into the library catalogue on familysearch.org and possibly make contact with that member. (As I recall, it's not something I have ever done but I know there was a way of finding the person through the filmed index to members)

Hello there.
Looking in the Free BMD,I have found (only) the following:~
1837
Robert Locker married Elizabeth Preston in Chesterfield.
1862
Robert Locker married Elizabeth Sherrell in Plymouth.
1911
Robert Locker married Elizabeth A Heron in Brampton.
Of course you may be looking for later marriages, which the Free BMD has not transcribed yet,but I hope these may help?

Roberts older brother Samuel married Elizabeth Jackson 25 Oct 1785 at Cubley, (there must have been a license as the marriage was also shown as at Twyford)
have you checked for any children of Samuel and Elizabeth? Is it possible that Samuel died and his brother Robert married his widow Mrs Elizabeth Locker?
marriage bonds or licenses were taken out and usually both the brides and the grooms parish was included in the bond, which may mean it is shown as a double entry from the marriage bonds.
If you could locate the marriage bond in the CRO it should give other family members and occupations.

The Netherseal entry has only added more confusion. I can't imagine how or why someone from Cubley would meet someone from Stapenhill. Cubley is not the place someone would move 15 miles to go into service, likewise Stapenhill has no industry only the breweries in near by Burton on Trent. Netherseal also has no industry to talk of and is on the fringe of coal mining in South Derbyshire. I'll have to go to the CRO and hope that sorts it out.
