I'm trying to trace the death of George Sutcliffe between 1841 and 1851 in Derbyshire. Any help appreciated.

He married in 1824, are any of his children married by 1851 and showing him as deceased on their marriage entry? I would also look for burials, the MIs for Alfreton ar erecorded and in the DRO, they might be worth looking through.
The entry Craft found should have an age next to it, he would have been 40 or 41 in 1843 I think.

Ripley was a Civil Registration District in the 1840s and so if he died there he should be registered there, the new address is:
Amber Valley Registration District
Town Hall
Market Place
Ripley
DE5 3BT
Tel:01773 841380 or call 01773 841381 for registering births and deaths.

Hi again scooby, I had trouble finding Mercy Sutcliff(e) on the 1861 census but I've found her now living with her daughter Matilda (Farnsworth) and her family, on that entry Mercy's birthplace is goven as Greasley. it is interesting that one of Matilda's children was born in Willenhall, Staffs (Samuel aged 5 in 1861), I wonder if before 1851 the family had connections there? What happened to daughter Ann who was 12 in 1841? Is she married by 1851? I wonder if her father was recorded as deceased on her marriage entry?
I agree that the marriage entry on the IGi for Mary Shawcross and George Sutcliffe but be an errot in the transcription for Mercy Shawcross.
I've found Matildas baptism at the Wesleyan Methodist chapem in Belper, 26 Jan 1832 (born 27th Dec 1831)
William was baptised there too 17 June 1829 He married Lydia Wright at Codnor and Loscoe, Derby 25 Oct 1852, he was 23 Lydia was 18, George is down but not shown as deceased.
Eldest daughter Ann was baptised 3 Apr 1825 at Alfreton to George and Mary Suttliff!
(I have just found an amazing link on the IGI, a Mrs Anne Sutcliffe death in Derby, wife of John Sutcliffe and she is given as 'of Erringden, Yorhskire' that means the actual place i was born!!! It was owned by the Sucliffe familt back to the 1500s, that links the Yorkshire Sutcliffe family owning all that Manor with Derby, I'm well chuffed with that!
John Sutcliffe married Anne at heptonstall, same church my parents married in, but I think John was already living in Derby, and born there, mmmm it's fascinating.

Sorry my typos were mental there ^^^
Erringden moor is a large expanse of moor above Mytholmroyd which was all owned by the Sutcliffes in the 1500s but was divided up into farms in the 1700s and I was born on the largest farm (Great House) , the farm next door was where the Mytholm Forgers high on bankrupted England!

George Sutcliffe is my ancestor - I am also trying to trace him. The george who died in 1843 is also a bricklayer - same as the George in Ripley in 1841 - also th eperson attending his death was an Ann Sutcliff - could be the missing daughter. Only problem is that his age was 34 - about 7 years too young - but it could be him. Would like to exchange info with scoobydoo2 and dothawkes31
