Could anyone tell me how i can get my grandfathers army record.I think he served in India untill about 1920 and then in Iraq for several years.Thanks

He should have been awarded the India General Service Medal 1908-1935 with one clasp; and The Order of Alrafidain (Order of the Two Rivers), a foreign medal from the Kingdom of Iraq.

What information have you found so far? You will need to find which regiment he was with , which might be on any civil reistration entry or on his army pension record and discharge papers, did he get dischared to the reserves do you know?

If he was in the army in 1901 his regiment should show on the census.
Oh and his army number will be enraved on he rim of any medals you may have access to
