I have got my hands on Chester Cathedral parish registers 1687-1812 (and found several ancestors - woo!) it's got usual BMD, with a little bit of a description about the people involved. I also have all the soldiers who died during 1914-1914 and were members of the South Lancs (Prince of Wales Volunteers) Rgt. which gives their names, place born, place enlisted, place died, date died, number and previous regiments (where applicable), and a register of all Royal Marines who died 1914-1919 which gives name, rank, number, date of death, name of ship/unit, place of death and reference for burial / memorial site. I also have an index of all Surrey apprentices 1731-1749, which gives name, employer, trade, type of apprenticeship, date of commencement, duration and price. If anyone's interested in any/all of the above just let me have names / dates etc and I'll have a look for you :-)

Hi Katrina.
My direct ancestor Robert de Broadhay arrived in chester from Roscommon in 1430 and was admitted to the Chester Guild as a shoemaker , I believe he stayed in Chester and so did his descendants until they moved to Rostherne in the early 1700s, their surname became Broady, if there are any in the cathedral registers they will be mine!

hi Dotty, 'fraid there's nothing in the Chester Cathedral records, nor the freemen of the city of Chester 1392-1700, although there seem to be a lot of shoemakers under every other name! typical lol
I've seen the record in latin and still have the translation somewhere, it's from one the the antiquarian society volumes, He was admitted to the guild as a master shoemaker.
