When you are a beginner, it can take weeks to work out what all the records are and how they can be used, and so a monthly subscription works well as you can suspend it if you knwo you are not going to use it for a while.
I'm bloody annoyed with FMP dotty. I was looking for a guy born in 1909 and couldn't find him on their site but could see him on their 1911 site. I had to buy credits to view him on 1911, got his father's details and lo and behold there he was on FMP, for which I have a years subscription. As the same people own the 2 sites you would think they'd hold the information in the same format!!
I know what you mean about FMP craft,I have just taken 14 day free trial which includes the 1911 census.I wanted to find Martha Coward nee Jackson, who i have living with her 2 children in 1901,she's a widow,I have her marriage to John in 1887.As John senior died in in 1888,the youngest child Gertrude Greenwood Coward born In 1890 cannot have been his!? perhaps thats where the Greenwood name came from and Martha must have been pregnant with John Edwin(born 1888) when he died.I can't find any trace of John Edwin or Martha in 1911 though I did find Gertrude but she was living in somewhere else as a servant, aaarrrh.I thought Martha could have remarried but can find no trace of it.I tried to find Martha and John as a couple in 1891 but no joy,I think you and dot were right when you said that certain censuses went astray as this is the third 1891 census for Scarborough that hasn't yielded what i'm looking for.Given that John senior was born in Scarborough I can't find a reference to a John Coward in any census from ScarboroughIt's so frustrating!
