Well I never..... !
Question Author
is lefevre in your tree salla?
Question Author
yes it is
is it? Not that I know of.... but this is my married name. My christened family surname is much more common (Woods).
Question Author
Its actually cambridge not cumbria lol
The vast majority of mine are irish patronymics / clan names, with two English - one patronymic and one place-name.
That is more local ! I do know there are a few people of that name in the Peterborough area. Then again, I have traced some to Pennysylvania!
thanks for that dot.How is royal an occupational name ?
My maiden name CARR apparently means "dweller of the Marsh" in anglo saxon.
Question Author
The OH, Royal will probably derive from Royal servant, or something similar,
Here's one for you dotty!...........my maiden name was Killemede, have traced the name back to Southern Ireland from births and deaths records, but can't really get further, I just don't have the experience to search!..............
Question Author
was it Killymede in some records?
Mine are a mix of patronymics and occupations mostly. My OH has an Argument in his family tree !
Question Author
Blimey! lol is it a 5 minue argument or the full half hour? I would guess that is actually a Huegenot name though ,possibly.
That's interesting Dotty. As to the argument, I think there were a few!Thomas and his wife Elizabeth married in 1888,by 1891 she was living with her parents and first child,Thomas was living with his parents. In 1901 she was still living with her parents plus 4 more children and he was living with his widowed sister!
I'm taking your advice dotty and looking at this category and you were right it is very interesting. So how about Timms (my brother reckoned our ancestors were body-servants belonging to Tim or Timothy) or Farrington, or Coombs (the man who lived in the coomb?).
Question Author
Timothy's son, abit pagan,
Haven't seen Killymede dotty, but have seen Killamede a few times, but may be relavent?...........very close!................
Pagan eh? Hmmm!
There would appear to be some Killemede's on this site but you have to buy credits (I have no idea what the site is like)
