I suggest you look in the Old Testament the book of David may give you the answers

No, the Book of David won't give a history of the Jews, any more than the Book of Genesis or the Book of Exodus. For nearly all of Medieval history the Jewish people were outcasts from society, and it continued until about the 18th century-Shylock in The Merchant of Venice is one example of a Jew getting a raw deal. Of course in the twentieth century there was still anti-semetism, in Germany with the Death Camps and so on, and in this country with the Black Shirts.

The Jews came out of excile in the book of Exodus (the bible) and much of their history is recored, up to about 400BC, from there throughout the Old Testement. Some of the books of the Apochrapha (Maccabes I&II) also recount some of the history from there to 4AD. From there on I'm not sure, looking for Jewish Historians of that time, I think a chap call Josephs was about then. By the way there is no 'Book of David' in the old testement. Josephus wote of the rebellion in the 70's ad in judea. This was the one where masada was beseiged and Herods temple burned down. The period of most mystery is the diaspora....in general the history of the jews is one of extreme harfdship and persecution. Bit like the irish, really.
