I have to produce as props some early 19th century French banknotes for a production of Les Miserables and I am trying to find out what colour these were. I've found pictures on the net and my library but these are in BLACK & WHITE (!) Does anyone know the colour they were printed in? Thanks

Thank you Kempie, from that site I've found that the majority of notes around that period were of a creamy vellum texture - that will do nicely - thanks again
Andy I'm sure you are trying to be correct, but who in the audience would know what a 19th century French banknote looked like close up, let alone at a distance. I'm not criticising you but it seems a lot of effort to go to.
Old French banknotes for sale on E.Bay I hope not!!
