FDR understood the implications of such a major war in Europe and the peril that would follow if Hitler were to win but Congress and the majority of the citizenship were happy for the 'Old World' to fight against Fascism unaided.
The only reason the USA were forced to enter the war, more than 2 years after hostilities began, was because Hitler declared war against them on 7th Dec 1941, the day after another Axis power, Japan, attacked Pearl Harbour.
Without this act of war they would never have 'bothered' to 'bail us out'.
just to let you know my husband told me what to write. you(skids) burned his arse talking about the usa. he has more to say to you but i'm going to end this now. i didn't join to **** people off. i enjoy this sight. i came to this site to ask about the problems my daughter is haveing. i myself don't know too much about what your arguing about. so please lets call a truce! @----->-----
It always makes me laugh when American people say 'who bailed you out of WW2'. Well, if Britain had fallen to Germany then how would USA have helped against Germany? I mean, they can't fly all the way from the USA to attack Germany can they? USA benefitted from WW2 big time, in part exchange for weapons they received islands, gold, secrets, captured Germany aircraft and technology. If they hadn't have entered they wouldn't be the super power they are today, simple as that.
Anyway, back to the main thread, well, Bliar is an idiot too so does that make Brits idiots as well? :)
