If you know the area where he died it might be possible to find the location of the grave in the council records. Wasn't there any birth details on the death certificate?

Would it be possible to get a copy of his death certificate? If so, that would give details of his birth (not just the year) details of his parents, date of their marriage etc. Might be a starting point.

Death record has all the details on apart from date of birth.
As nungate has suggested, if you know the date and address of death, the local council might well have burial records. If, as you think, it might be a pauper's grave, there is probably a particular cemetery where such burials took place. Worth contacting the appropriate department of the council.
Do you have a death certificate for him?

Thanks all much appreciated.
I've got some credits left on the Scotlands People site.....if you give me his details I'll look for the date of birth for you.....
If you are trying to locate his grave, why do you need his date of birth?

Missprim...Date of birth might be needed to single him out from others, believe me it is a very common name in the Gorbals.
Okay I'll have a look...............
There's only 1 Patrick Boyle born in Glasgow in 1908 and he was Patrick Joseph and had different parents............

Thats strange,I deff have the right one as i have all sorts of documents to back it up.Thanks for doing that for me anyway,i can see i have my work cut out there lol.
I have found a Patrick James Boyle Born 1908 Glasgow
Death 6th May 1946 Eglinton St Glasgow
Father Francis Boyle married Rose Montford 12th April 1935
St Francis Church Gorbals Glasgow.

If you know his date of death and where he died then as nungate said, the location of the grave should be in the councils records.I don't think you need the date of his birth for this.
Just in case you come back to this thread I also found this.
Further information can be obtained from:

You could probably get the info you need from them.
His parents got married in 1935?
Question Author
