Don't clean the coin. What is the coin made of?
Don't clean it, as said. the reason is that any old coin is valued for its patina, the gradual darkening of the metal, that occurs with time. Clean that off and you ruin both its appearance and its value to any collector (or museum).
Interesting that this object has no monarch's head on it. If you are in or near London, try visiting Baldwin's (www.baldwin.co.uk for details),off The Adelphi, The Strand, or ring them They are certain to know, even from a description over the phone.
scroll down and you will see it, it is from naples.
