some people say - 22 June 1941 - barbarossa and the invasion of Russia
Of course at the time, theGermans did not think that they would lose the war if they invaded Russia
Or the entry of America into the war - everyone thought that the Germans would lose - eventually.
Or as late as D Day? Throughout late 1944 and 1945 it is important that the front should not stabilise - because lengthy trench warfare would result....
I dunno - I give up - when?
Two main factors involve Britain and Russia. If Germany had managed to invade Britain then the American's couldn't have joined the European war even if they wanted to (they wouldn't have anywhere to fly from and the USA is too far away).
Opening an eastern front with Russia meant that Germany was fighting both the western and eastern front plus south in Italy and Africa. Their forces were spread considerably.
I think from 1943 onwards Germany were backheeling.
