How much water would the Navy/Army take to the Caribbean until they used local water? These days & 100 years ago?

I thought the Caribbean was an armed forces-free zone which makes this answer, indeed your question, academic. But to answer the question you first need to know the method of travel, the time required for the journey, the number of people to be 'watered', their activities, their diet, their medication, their age and their level of fitness. Am I taking this too seriously?
