The Lancashire and Cheshire Record Society Publications Vol 32 pp 18 - 69 detail the compliant brought by William Case against Alexander Banks, Abbot of Furness Abbey for the destruction of the village of Sellergarth in 1516.
Part of the document reads:
There are now 13 ploughs in the said town clearly "de Cayet" and "layd dowen frome their occupacion"
Could anyone please clarify the meaning of "de Cayet"?
