Winston Churchill, your mission, should you decide to accept it is to reclaim our country from the tyranny that is the EU and then to undo 40 years of PC Liberal thinking that has turned our youth into a bunch of me first yobs.

This tape will self destruct in 5 seconds.....

Come on you can do better than that!

Churchill didn't exactly cover himself in glory post war.

And he was the one who said "we must build a kind of United States of Europe"

Mozart. With the amount of brilliance he displayed in just 35 years on Earth, how much more could he have produced if he'd had 45?

Ayrton Senna, who would by now have surely have exceeded MS's 7 world championships

Sydney Carton, who got a bum deal for such self-sacrifice.

Question Author
Sydney Carton!!! This isn't Aarts and Literature you know!
John Smith then perhaps we wouldn't have had to put up with King Tony.
Don't know about Sydney Carton but ,gay or not, I would give Dirk Bogarde another ten years.lol.  ;0)

So tempted to say Richard Whitely (he IS a historical figure - first face on Channel 4) because I can't see what harm he'd do.

Also tempted to say Hitler - in order that he could have been tortured for ten years in a concentration camp.

Mother Theresa did a lot of good and deserves another chance.

John Smith is a good call - I liked him!

I realise the answer was meant to be one person each -but there are SOOOO many people.

Ok - so Saint-Saens I think.  Yeah, Saint-Saens or Richard Whitely.

Am I odd?

No acw you are not odd!
I would also suggest John.F.Kennedy who with an extra ten years of life would have been forced to admit his affair with Marilyn Monroe.And..Marilyn Monroe because I think she deserved more than to be used by the Kennedys.
Now I'm odd!!

me.

If I don't qualify, it had better be shaneystar because she's so odd! (10 years for JFK just so's he can admit to an affair??)

Mozart great call that.

Two names stand out for me.

George Gershwin, 38 when he died, when he was still to reach his creative peak.to me the greatest american composer of them all.

Robert Kennedy, a fascinating figure who just might have stopped tricky dicky entering the white house and just might have pulled america out of vietnam much earlier thus saving at least a million lives...

I think that Arthur Wellesley (Duke of Wellington) would have the potential to do a lot for the country in 10 years as Prime Minister despite serving as PM form 1828-1830.

(puts on moral bullet-proof vest)

JESUS CHRIST (if he existed) - Surely there wouldnt be all the fuss and crazyness in the world today if he hadnt become a martyr.

(runs away chased by screaming townsfolk)

Ive got three. First, Buddy Holly because he was a genius who was ahead of his time as a songwriter and it would of been great to see what he would of done next. Possibly a producer? Secondly, John Lennon as he was just getting back into music when he died and would of probably  headed live aid instead of Bob Geldof. Maybe The Beatles would of got back together.  Lastly, Bruce Lee. He only made 5 movies and was just starting to come into his own. With the worldwide success of 'Enter the dragon' I believe his films would of got even better. He was certainly working on new characters to play.

After reading this thread and Bob a jobs' reply i'm beginning to wonder if Jake the peg IS Jesus and this is his way of running a poll to see if it's the right time for the second coming!

seriously tho... an extra 10 years?  Who on earth would deserve such a thing?  Personally my feelings are that the time we have is enough time to do or be whatever we choose and what we do in that time dictates how we're remembered - the path's already written, can't see Fate changing the rules now!

Agree with Bob. Mine would be Jaroslav Hasek, so that he could finish writing my favourite book, ''The Good Soldier Schweik''.
Douglas Adams (not exactly historical, but dead) because he was a great writer and has some of the best philosophys I have read in a very long time.
