All births and deaths during that period (except for births during the 3rd quarter of 1940 and the 4th quarter of 1943) have been transcribed onto the FreeBMD website, so that might be a good place to start: http:// www. freebmd. org. uk/ Only the most basic of information is on that site but it could be enough to enable you to order copies of the birth and death...
