Family Tree & Ancestry
Hi, I have been researching my tree for about 18 months and a big mistake on my part was not to print things out as I went along! Now I have hundreds of records to print and file!
Can anyone recommend a good computer programme I could use or if its worth purchasing the Family Tree maker from Ancestry?
Thanks.

I use it with Ancestry.com, which passes data to it - don't know if it works the other way should you buy Ancestry at some stage.
I've got back to the late 1600s, and therough Ancestry, I've linked into someone researching my family name, and have over 24,000 people in my tree.
I've also been treated to a free DNA test, and found ancestors and close matches in Scandinavia.
It's great fun - keep up the good work

I rarely print any of it out. All computer data files. But I'd have thought a genealogy programme of some sort for capturing the information was absolutely vital. There are free ones out there to try. You could build up your data on a genealogy website, but you'd want to download the data for backup anyway.
