Nostalgia For An Old Fashioned Milk Bottle ..
Going out very early to work this morning, I saw a milk float. Seeing it made me wonder just how much milk is still doorstep 'delivered' .. in comparison to how much used to be delivered years ago. I came up with this link. According to the link .. in the 70s .. 99% of milk was doorstep delivered & now it's less than 5%. Not at all surprised. I think it a kind of quaint idea these days. I'm sure the older generation are very grateful milk is still delivered. Interesting link! http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/ma gazine- 2932788 1

I like to support local businesses. When the doorstep deliveries stop, they'll never come back. I HATE the big supermarkets and the way they treat the dairy farmers. Also, my milkman is really rather dishy !
When I was a milkman, I had 520 to 530 houses to deliver to. My round was one main road, and about twelve cul-de-sacs leading from it. I could 'knock' the whole round out in two and a half hours on a Sunday if I were playing football. I guess to have that many customers these days, you'd have to cover miles. They were good days, I made a lot of good friends, and it kept me fit.
