what does B&Q stand for as in the diy store

It's from the initials of its founders - Block and Quayle.
I used to think it was Barry & Quentin...somehow still sounds better than Block & Quayle.
1969 B&Q was founded by Richard Block and David Quayle and the first store opened in Portswood, Southampton

having been to B&Q recently, i would think the B stands for Buy, every thing was on sale with %'s offf everything, the store was really busy so you guess what the Q stands for, having only one counter staff on.

i forgot to tell you, i have been barred from all B&Q's in England, i went in the other day and a guy with orange overalls came up and asked if i wanted decking, so i got the first punch in.
