Will anyone help me please? I would like to know who all the residents were at Wood Norton Rectory, East Dereham, Norfolk in 1911.

Any help very much appreciated.

I don't have access to the census but one Charles Burton Lipscomb seems to have been the rector at that date. I think you can get a free trial with findmypast or ancestry to find more detail.
I looked at Ancestry. Data access seems to rely on looking for a name rather than an address.
Charles gets a mention here.

...and here

But you'll need better access to get all names resident there.

Thank you all for your help. I will see what I can find out now that you have given me the name of the rector.

I do know the name of one person living there in 1912 - a Miss E.L. Rutland. I am beginning to think that she may have been the housekeeper or a member of staff. I have a postcard dated 1912 sent by someone staying at at a Lincolnshire rectory for a party and addressed to this lady. I now think that the sender was probably Mr. Lipscomb's wife.

For years I had a subscription to findmypast when I was researching my own family but I didn't renew it when I had completed my research.
Good luck, now Chinajan has given a lead you may get somewhere.

Let us know.
Miss Emma Lavinia Rutland was working there as a cook, born 1880 in Wood Norton.

Mrs Olive May Lucinda Lipscombe was CBL's wife.

Sorry E L Rutland's yob was 1881.

I can't thank you enough. You have all been brilliant and I am so grateful. The writer of the postcard was Mrs. Lipscomb and I now understand the text on the reverse of the postcard. Such an insight into the lives of that household all those years ago.
if it's any help, ELR was born in Aylsham in Q4 1880. Her mum's maiden name was Watts.

More interesting information, thank you.
George Rutland and Sarah Watts. They married in Mitford in Q3 1871.
I'm not being an a*** honest, but the commercial sites tend to be a bit sniffy about posted images from their sites - copyright etc. I wouldn't want AB to get into trouble so I wonder if it might be in order for a mod to remove SlackAlice's extraordinarily helpful post at some point?
Family Search (The Mormon’s site) is still free, comprehensive, and all they ask is your email (not your soul).
Question Author
Oh yes, I'd forgotten the Mormon site. I did use it a bit in the past when I was researching my own family.
Barmaid might have a point. Ancestry charge HUGE amounts, and get away with it.
yes, copy down all the details and then ask for it to be deleted.

Would never, ever, consider you one ☺☺☺

'thread' should be 'post'
Duh!
Today your e-mail: tomorrow your soul ;-)
