Better to consult your USA history books rather than a UK Q&A site.
I agree wwith Atheist. I have no idea what the " Amendments" are/ mean.
Sam, I presume it is amendments to the American constitution. IHATE, forgive me if I am wrong.
I would think that every American's "rights" have been affected by legislative amendments. Wouldn't think that any particular demographic group have been singled out by any Senate ruling ... yet. Perhaps certain sections of U.S. society feel more neglected or "considered" than others but so what. Welcome to the real World.

I'm so sorry to the people I confused, I'm stupid sorry.
the amendments do not (must not, can not??) distinguish between the origins of the people of the US. In fact the very premise of the foundation of the US is at odds with your statement here.
IHATE...no need to apologise. If we don't understand the nuances of your question then you can explain a bit and we will try to help. But we are UK here, not USA, so maybe not the best place to post. Good luck.
It would take a bit more than that question to confuse us IHMS. Perhaps you are confused, but we haven't yet judged you stupid and you are not entitled to call yourself that unless you know why. Does that school laptop let you access this site then despite keeping you off yoootooob.
The fifteenth amendment is one to read up on.

indeed, Mamya, I tried pointing to that already but everyone carried on as if African Americans had been able to vote since the dawn of time.

But women had to keep on waiting.
TTT, I think that Mamy's link to the 15th will show you that african american rights have changed over time, as have the rights of women.
Apologies Jno, I'm afraid I skimmed the thread rather.
it never hurts to have two people giving the right answer.
Sorry, jno, I wasn't copying you, honest!
sends Atheist a friendly wave
would wave back to jno and wink if he had the nerve, but doesn't know how to do italics, and doesn't have the nerve.
athiest, yes apologies, I meant once slavery was abolished.
TTT, thanks for your apology. My lip was tempted to curl disdainfully, but that would have been caddish of me, so the old upper remained stiffly polite. Apologies all the same. End of.
/// doesn't know how to do italics, ///

Nor does Answerbank, it only works once per post, and even then fails sometimes. (The method is to put the letter i in square brackets before the text string then repeat this again at the end)
