I have just come across a reference to 'military time', a complaint that they want 'standard time' displayed.
I have no idea what this means.

Probably military time is another name for the twenty four hour clock,

Choosing 'English (United States)', or 'English (Canada)', in Windows' 'Region and Language' settings selects 12-hour clock formats for the Short and Long times by default, so it looks as if that is the 'standard' way of displaying time over there.

but not to them - it is the land of the free
standard time is 9 am - hen you add the clock - GMT - - but last munf it was BST

I have a friend who cannot get her head around the 24 hour system. She thought 1600 hours was six pm and missed her flight- twice.

I was first introduced to the 24 hour system in the air cadets many years ago. At that time there was no colon placed between the hours and minutes, so the time of this post would be 0854 and not 08:54.
