Assuming that Robert McCulloch, the founder of Lake Havasu resort who bought the bridge, was familiar with Tower Bridge, and even assuming that initially he thought the bridge put up for sale was Tower Bridge, he surely wouldn't have paid almost $2.5M for it without seeing it or a photo of it.I guess he bought it for its historic associations, and its utility as a bridge - its actual appearance was possibly of little importance.
