It can get pretty cold in NE in winter. Only half of the original 100 or so settlers survived the first year. (They landed in November.)
As WC Fields' epitaph almost said... "On the whole, I'd rather be in Virginia." 😎
Plymouth (UK)seems to ignore its connections with the early settlers. My father was from South Carolina...Greenville if I'm not mistaken, though he often mentioned Charleston. I've never gotten that far south unfortunately.
I should mention that Plimoth Plantation is well worth a visit. Living history is something Americans do well...

Pastafreak, I've been to Greenville. We went there to visit friends over 20 years ago. They used to have an ice hockey team called The Greenville Growl. We went to watch them and guess what? They lost! Then we went to watch the Prom Queen at Riverside High, followed by an American College Football match. Riverside had made a great start to the season, winning all their games so far. Good eh? Until we arrived and they got battered 36-0. Oh dear! Then we had a scary visit to somewhere called Caesars Head. Loveley place but lots of scary paths with steep drops very close! I could write a book about that weekend but we enjoyed it in Greenville.
