A titanically one-dimensional non-character actor playing Irish cops and Russian submarine captains with the same accent, and a wife beater.

No loss.

I liked him.   One of those men whose looks improved with age.

Once again someone is out of step with the rest of the world.

Wow, that's put a real crimp in my afternoon Douglas!!

Easy, Teasie.

Scotland's answer to John Wayne.

Question Author

11:49, didn't know he was a wife beater, another John Lennon then.

Thought his 40 year marriage was idyllic/romantic - can you explain further, Andy?

He was quite proud of beating his first wife Diane Cilento - he used to boast in interviews that a woman "needed a good slap."

Contradiction in terms? A slapper is not a good woman.

I would never hit my wife...she can run faster than me;-0

Andy-Hughes.  What happened to your usual boast of separating the art from the personal - as you do with Gary Glitter?

Question Author

Ok andy, can I assume you also have similar contempt for John Lennon?

Art from the artist?

Certainly.

He was a boorish misogynist, and the success of any films he appeared in was in spite of his range less acting, rather than because of it.

Question Author

....and John Lennon?

Question Author

....the silence is deafening from Andy! It seems only some wife beaters are "no loss".

I feel a head of steam building, could be a long night. 🙄

TTT - No 'silence' deafening or otherwise,  Halloween is in full swing here, house full.

John Lennon was, by his own admission, a dreadful human being as a younger man, but he didn't boast about it in interviews.

I don't think there is a 'deafening silence' on this thread, I put it down to everyone having, like me, a life away from the AB.
