Wasn't' sure where to post this so here it is.

I eat pork but i have recently gone off it. Muslims do not eat pork because they beleive it is bad for humans. The Quran and Bible say it should not be eaten and it is known as the 'devils food'.

Just interested to know what people think. Is it really bad?

If you are in Korea you may well be offered in a restaurant a dish of dog meat, I.E. corgi or poodle or plain mongrel, it's not my idea of fine food but the fact that we eat pork hardly qualifies as an act of blasphemy

Rescuer, please note that Churchill did not say 'pigs are equal' he said that " Pigs treat as as equal' and therefore he was "fond of pigs".

I think any quotes whereever they come from can be taken out of context and interperated in the way you feel best.

Nikita, I as a (lapsed) Roman Catholic, I was under the distinct impression that the bible consisted both of the Old Testament and also the New Testament. I'm sure if the Old Testament had no value for Christians they'd do away with it, as it is it's Isiah that refers to the eating of Pork which is what is under discussion. I can't find anything in the New Testament to suggest any of the food mitzvahs have been lifted. Can you tell me where the New testament addresses that please?
I think that the non eating of pork was just a health thing as pork can go off quite quickly, at least in the days before refrigeration. Have you ever wondered why Walls make sausages and ice cream? It was because they made sausages but in the summer no one would buy them so they started making ice cream to sell in the summer months when they couldn't sell pork sausages!

Isaah 66:17 Those sanctifying themselves and cleansing themselves for the gardens behind one in the center, eating the flesh of the pig and the loathsome thing, even the jumping rodent, they will all together reach their end, is the utterance of God.

It all depends on your religion. Some feel that Old Testament with all its sacrifices which represented the 'coming of Christ'. The new testament - Christ had arrived in the form of man and is now in Heaven. Thus sacrifices were not carried out anymore. The same applies to other rules that were enforced in the old testament. But if you are Jewish or Muslim, who dont believe the New Testament because Jesus has not 'arrived' yet, the Old Testament rules still apply to them.

I will look for the scriptures in the New Testament where it states that certain things that were carried out before Jesus, need not be carried out anymore. And no, I am not a bible basher - but I did get 'A' level in R.E.

Nikita, it is "pigs treat us as an equal". typo error?
Well, I had a rather nice piece of rock badger for my tea tonight, whilst I chatted to my wife (who happened to be menstruating). Could any of you good Christians out there tell me if I did anything wrong?

No, mdoo98, you are suppose to go on an Easter Egg hunt and dress as a bunny. Have you forgotten already?

It's from Leviticus Ch.11, V.5 mdoo98, the Bible says that eating rock badgers* is out, as like shellfish, they are unclean too. (*Sometimes referred to as a coney from the Syrian name, not to be confused with coney, meaning rabbit - geddit? All clear?.)

Similarly, Leviticus Ch.18 says menstruating women are unclean, and so is everything they touch - so it is best to avoid all contact with them whatsoever during this time. That means sex is definately out, too, before you ask.
(And before you disappear into the bathroom, be careful not to spill your seed on yourself, your clothes or anyone else for that matter.)

Oh, one more thing -
Before you lock up tonight and go to bed, please check that you have unplugged the television set, checked there are no cigarettes still burning, and most of all, remember not to have sex with both your wife and your mother-in-law - or else you are liable to be burnt to death.

I am a muslim and we don't eat pork because of the cloven hoof. it is nottttt because we think a pig is holy or because the hoof looks like the devils. pigs are dirty and in the koran it states that it is unhealthy do to eat it.

Brachipod leads a weird life.

Hi fender62, I don't think so. Among Moslem friends I have there is not one that would knowingly eat pork. They do often consume alcohol and, sometimes, even over indulge. But, never, never, eat pork. In fact those Moslems who may have non-Moslem friends or are expected to entertain non-moslems often go the extent of having two kitchens, one for halal foods and preparation, the other (often called 'the dirty kitchen') for preparation of non-halal foods. This is equipped with its own utensils and these are never taken from one kitchen to the other.

This can cause some problems in tourist places, in Fiji for example, where you may have Hindu staff who would not prepare beef products and Moslems who would not touch pork. Such establishments also may have separate halal and non-halal kitchens.

In my general experience, the consuming of pork is very offensive to most Moslems, for whatever reasons. I have no problem with that.

Thats cows dummy, and its hindus who think they are sacred. The jews don't eat pork becasue its an unclean animal or some ****. Personally I love a pork bap with a bit of stuffing.

At least I lead a life, plonker, I don't follow. Weird or otherwise....

....still, remember what I said - it's a great one for throwing back at those Christians preaching as they accost you in the town centre on a Saturday afternoon....

(female) Christian- "You are all sinners, come to God etc..."
Brachiopod; "Excuse me, are you menstruating?"

For male preachers, just ask if they eat rock badgers, and if not, why not.

(Sorry for any gender bias, but that is not my fault.)

Noxlomus - Just worth explaining that in the New Testament, Peter had a vision (Acts 10:9 - 16) where God Himself corrected Peter's idea of what was clean & unclean.
to be fair, who cares? you cant beat a bacon roll or a lovely bit of roast pork with crackling and apple sauce. If your faith stops you eating such delicacies then thats too bad for you lot xxx
