Its actually a bit of a christian myth that the cross is a pagan symbol; there are celtic roots to the cross but it had little to do with paganism. The major symbol of worship for pagans is the pentacle, a five pointed star within a circle, which represents, among many things, the five stages of life, womanhood and balance, etc etc. "The five points represent the 4 elements plus the spirit, and the circle connects them all.
