Motorcycle Batallion
What were the primary functions of a Motorcycle Batallion attached to a Panzer Division in WW2? What did the unit compose of in terms of weapons and how did it function at all in winter?

A tank battilion is a lumbering beast and motorbikes can give the group a much quicker response. Bikes could be used for recon, pathfinding, messengers, ferrying of small amounts of supplies.
i would say they would come in very handy attached to a heavy amoured division and enable the group to cover a lot more ground. I'm sure winter conditions would affect bikes in the same way as all motorized transport but once again could well be the only vehicle to get through snow bound roads where others couldnt.
