When was the first mid ocean replacement of a propellor shaft in a steam ship sucessfully performed? What was the ship and who were the engineers?

It could be that the procedure was carried out by a small ship-owner in distant parts, so the answer may not be on record.
But the steam warship 'HMS Warrior' (1860) was constructed so that whilst at sea, a damaged propeller blade could be changed, and even the whole propeller assembly could be removed so as to reduce drag when moving under sail. (Took 400 men working together to do it, mind!)
