I hope Im in the right section. I've been wondering about those prison uniform's that used to have arrow's pointing downwards on them. Anyone know why? TIA.

It was a sign used to designate crown property

Not just on clothing but all sorts of stuff
In the Navy we used to call it a Pussers (purser)Arrow and it identified government property
