Apart from Eskimos, Native Americans didn't originally use metal - none was available to them until Europeans arrived. Instead, they used stone and bone.
There are many examples from southern Illinois here. These would have been traded with other tribes, and might be discovered a long way from where they were made.
(Eskimos were able to make things out of metal by hammering out iron meteorites that they found).
