Damn good question 4get!!!
why Thank you :-)
who would have dug things up out of the filthy ground and eaten them ???????? who on earth could have looked at a mushroom or a truffle and thought 'mmmmmmmmmmmm tasty !!!!'
I would have thought it had something to do with raising cattle and maybe trying to help a cow suckle, then maybe getting thirsty and trying it forthemself. I dont think its such an odd idea. Although I do think the concept of eating mushrooms and stuff was odd. I suppose the hunter gatherer part of our nature has been surpressed.

As Goodsoulette suggests, ancient herdsmen would have noticed how well calves thrived on suckling...not to mention that the same applied to their own children at their mothers' breasts. Milking must have been a pretty obvious thing for them to try!
Well thank goodness for all of them I say!
Think what we'd have been existing on if it hadn't been for their ingenuity.
Tesco readymeals.
Well I agree with Good and QM and would possibly add that very young children are also known to suckle. I guess he (or she or they) were just following the path of nature survival.

I would be more concerned at the bloke (or woman) who saw the egg come out oif a chickens bum and said Im gonna eat that.
