soz a ment the moon! theres tenner riding on this.
John Glenn was the first American to orbit the earth, in 1962.

Buzz Aldrin was aboard the first manned spacecraft, Apollo 11, to land on the moon. This was in 1969. He became the second man to walk on the moon, following Neil Armstrong.

Go on, johnscotland, take a couple of bob off your mate.
Ask him, double or quits, the name of the first dog in space.
It was a Russian - Leica. He wont like-a that!
Leica was a camera. Laika was the dog. Dorothy Parker once reviewed the play 'I am a Camera' (this later became the musical 'Cabaret') by just writing 'Me no Leica'. That information is so useless I think I will go to bed.
jno - mea culpa. Yes, do have an intertest in cameras!
The first man in space was Uri Gellar, this led to a career in spoon-bending and lots of ga-gar-in.
Lets get real please, man has never set foot on the moon! He has set foot on a film set that was made to look like the moon, the reason we were conned is to blag the Russians into thinking that the USA where superior in science and technology than them. Yes they took off in a rocket, yes they came back to earth with a splash, everthing else was courtesy of area 51. Type in MOON HOAX into google and read the amazing stuff on loads of sites.
PS
Santa, the tooth fairy and the easter bunny are not real either.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
I'm sorry???? No Santa???? Yeah right, I'm not falling for that tripe.....who brings ya prezzys then? You must think we're barking!
John Glenn was most certainly not the first American in space. Alan B Shepherd, Scott Carpenter and Virgil Grissom all did sub orbital flights before JG became the first yank to orbit Earth.

Santa is real, I was pulling your leg.
Santa brings them then Barclays sends you the bill, thats why he is called santa claus because his bank claws back the money from you.
Did you know that santas suit was originally green until coca-cola got involved and changed it to red. What you can do with money eh.
I DO like an intelligent conversation ...........................lol
oh my goodness, not that nonsense about Santa and Coca-Cola again. Have a look here:

They cover fake moon landings too, but I wouldn't want you to lose all your illusions at once.
I remember when someone knocked several chocolate bars off the shelf at Tesco and my cousin Charlie trod on them. He was the first person I know who set foot on Mars.
Sorry sddsddean, but Scott Carpenter didn't do a suborbital flight before John Glenn, but an orbital flight immediately after him.
The Leica camera was the first to orbit the Moon, sending images of The Beatles singing Love Me Do all over the World. Barclay Bank in Cheshire relayed the pictures to the UK.
The first camera to orbit the moon was a Soviet one on board Luna 3 on October 4th 1959. This camera was made by Yenisey.

Anyway - it was Jodrell Bank, not "Barclay Bank"
