How do you tell a chickens age

How old are chickens in comparison to human years ie: Does 7 chicken years = 1 human year????

Probably more like a 10/1 ratio, but it is impossible to give an accurate answer. A wild chicken Gallus gallus also known as a jungle fowl, would be lucky to make into to its fourth year, but if it was kept in captivity and wel looked after it will easily surpass ten. A 'backyard' chicken kept as a pet should make it to 7.
