How did the world start? Did anyone meet god in a phonebox and discuss this with him or were we all apes with cavemen ancestors?

I think the usual explanation is the other way round: we were cavemen with ape ancestors. Of course your family may well have evolved in the opposite direction, in which case you may be an amoeba by now.
