Does anyone know why our monarch has "2" birthdays. Her "natural" one (ie the day she was born on in reality) and the "official" one - ? Has this always been the case throughout history with monarchs?

If you work in local government (ie social services, etc) you have the day after Whitsun Bank holiday Monday off to celebrate the monarch's birthday! My husband said he wasn't a royalist until he found that out!!
